Brian Teacher swept through the Australian Open in 1981, dropping only three sets during the tournament dismissing Kim Warwick of Australia in the finals 7-5, 7-6, 6-3. While at UCLA, he claimed the Pac-8 singles and doubles championships in 1974, achieved All American status all for years, and was part of two NCAA championship teams. Just before graduating in 1977, he turned professinal, begining a career in which he would gain a high ranking of #7 in the world.

Brian had wins over Jimmy Connors, Arthur Ashe, and Stan Smith, as well as 8 singles titles, before making a transition to coaching. As a coach, he had a brief stint with Andre Agassi, before leading Greg Rusedski from number 85 in the world to the top ten and the U.S. Open finals. Teacher led five players to #1 in the world doubles rankings, Jim Grabb, Richey Renenburg, Max Mirnyi, Mark Knowles, and Daniel Nestor (Brian himself was a top 10 in the world doubles player).

He also coached So Cal native Marissa Irvin to a Stanford scholarship and a top 50 in the world WTA ranking.
